Mary is a spearheading force in corporate governance and gender inclusion with more than 28 years’ experience in legal practice, strategy and banking. She is the Group Executive Director for Equity Group Holdings Plc where she began her service in 2004.
Through her office, Equity Group Holdings Plc has ensured that the Board has the overall responsibility for adequate corporate governance across the Group.Outstandingly, she has championed gender equality at both the Group and Subsidiaries Boards which has seen percentage of women in the boards grow to almost 40%.
Mary serves as a Non-Executive Director in several boards which include; FinServ Africa Limited, Equity Group Foundation, Equity Investment Bank Limited, Equity Insurance Agency Limited, Equity Bank (Kenya) Limited, Equity Bank Uganda Limited, Equity Bank Rwanda PLC, Equity Bank (Tanzania Limited) and Equity BCDC Congo.
What’s more, she is involved in educational sponsorships for needy students, mentorships; both for professional and personal growth, development initiatives among other interests. She leads a programme, Equity Inspire Programme (EQUIP) launched by Equity Group which is a leadership and coaching programme that seeks to enhance a gender-equal working environment. Moreover, every year she participates in the Wings to Fly and Equity Leaders Program annual leadership conferences and congresses aimed at inspiring the young ladies to take up leadership positions in their various schools as well as find ways of giving back to the society.
